Most weddings entail some of the invited guests requiring accommodation, for an overnight stay or two, albeit the night prior or night after the wedding. It doesn’t always mean they’ve had to travel particularly far to attend the wedding, but for a variety of reasons, many like to make a night or weekend of it by adding an overnight stay.
Couples whose own wedding venue offers additional bedrooms, suites, or other forms of accommodation is always a popular choice, as being onsite at the same location to where the wedding and/or reception is taking place is ideal. Often the couple are also able to secure rooms for their guests at a discounted price, and when there are families to consider, having accommodation where the younger guests can go to sleep whilst perhaps the parents have a couple hours to dance and enjoy the reception, means such rooms are snapped up quickly.
Alternatively, some guests like to stay ‘offsite’ but within close proximity to alleviate taxi rides or even driving to their chosen accommodation, whilst there are many types to suit couples, families or even larger groups attending a wedding together. Guest House, Bed & Breakfast, Hotels, Lodges, Caravan and Campsites can be popular choices and its wise to get details from each to be able to offer guests a good range and style plus different price range and budget.
It’s also worthwhile when researching guest accommodation, to enquire after group booking discounts as many hotels in particular will offer a reduced room rate or discount, if you are looking to hold or book several, its beneficial for all. Couples regularly send local accommodation information with either their ‘Save the Date’ or full Wedding Invitations, and it can be incorporated into their design and theme too.
